When you create an account or use the App, we may collect:

• Account information: email address, display name, profile photo, and location (optional)
• Tasting notes and ratings: whisky scores, nose/palate/finish descriptions, and written reviews
• Collection data: whiskies you add to your personal collection, wishlist, or tasted list
• Onboarding preferences: your whisky experience level, flavour preferences, and style preferences
• Communications: feedback or support messages you send to us

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information: device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
• Usage data: features you use, pages you view, and actions you take within the App
• Camera data: images captured when using the bottle scanning feature (processed via AI; not stored permanently)
• Log data: error logs, crash reports, and performance data

1.3 Information from Third Parties

• Authentication providers: if you sign in via Apple or Google, we receive your name and email as permitted by those services
• Payment processors: RevenueCat processes subscription payments on our behalf. We do not store your payment card details

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Provide and personalise the App's features, including whisky recommendations
• Process and display your tasting notes and ratings
• Manage your whisky collection and wishlist
• Enable the AI-powered bottle scanning feature
• Process subscription payments and manage your premium membership
• Improve the App by analysing usage patterns and fixing bugs
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to support requests

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Public Information

The following is visible to other users of the App:

• Your display name and profile photo
• Your tasting notes and ratings
• Your whisky experience level and general preferences

Your email address, exact location, and private collection details are not publicly visible.

3.2 Service Providers

• Supabase – database and authentication hosting
• RevenueCat – subscription management and payment processing
• Anthropic / OpenAI – AI processing for the bottle scan feature
• Expo / Apple – app build and distribution infrastructure

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests from public authorities.

3.4 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Age Restrictions

Beatha W is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their country of residence. The App is rated 17+ and is not directed at individuals under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@beatha.app.

5. Data Retention

• Account data: retained until you delete your account
• Tasting notes and ratings: retained until you delete them or your account
• Collection data: retained until you remove items or delete your account
• Usage and log data: retained for up to 12 months

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Correction

You can access and update your profile information directly in the App under Profile → Edit Profile.

6.2 Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at hello@beatha.app.

6.3 GDPR Rights (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal data. Contact us at hello@beatha.app to exercise these rights.

6.4 CCPA Rights (California Residents)

California residents have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Contact hello@beatha.app to submit a request.

7. Data Security

• All data transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
• Authentication handled via Supabase Auth with secure password hashing
• Database access controlled by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies
• Profile photos stored in access-controlled cloud storage

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the EEA or UK.

9. Children's Privacy

Beatha W is not intended for anyone under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
